The "Hyper-Partisan" Type

I was shocked that Tim Schieferecke said McCain accused Republicans of being "hyper-partisan". So I had to look for myself:

For too long, now, Washington has been consumed by a hyper-partisanship that treats every serious challenge facing us as an opportunity to trade insults; disparage each other's motives; and fight about the next election. For all the problems we face, if you ask Americans what frustrates them most about Washington, they will tell you they don't think we're capable of serving the public interest before our personal and partisan ambitions; that we fight for ourselves and not for them. Americans are sick of it, and they have every right to be. They are sick of the politics of selfishness, stalemate and delay. They despair when every election -- no matter who wins -- always seems to produce four more years of unkept promises and a government that is just a battleground for the next election. Their patience is at an end for politicians who value ambition over principle, and for partisanship that is less a contest of ide as than an uncivil brawl over the spoils of power. They want to change not only the policies and institutions that have failed the American people, but the political culture that produced them. They want to move this country forward and stake our claim on this century as we did in the last. And they want their government to care more about them than preserving the privileges of the powerful.

I think McCain was talking about "hyper-partisanship" and greed on both sides of the aisle.

For shame, Tim Schieferecke. Character-assassin against our nominee should be left for the Daily-Kos, not RedState.

I posted yesterday on Rush's seeming personal hatred of McCain and how that colors his commentary. It got mixed results to say the least.

Rush has been conflating McCain's attacks on the democratic-led congress and republicans who engaged in shameless spending and govt growing with attacks on the base.

Rush knows the base is wary of McCain, so he has been taking McCain out of context in an attempt to worsen this wariness in to full-on resentment and hatred. Rush's feelings were hurt in the primary.

Rush fans the flames every day, and this comment you quoted is just one more example of the negative effect all of this is having on McCain's candidacy, and by extension the future of our nation.

think that McCain is connected in some way to a bright future for our nation. I see only darkness ahead.

but the picture you paint is over the top.

How do you take the litany of McCain's accomplishments out of context?

McCain is a maverick. That has ramifications. He is going to get less benefit of the doubt than any Republican nominee in recent history.

I think it is good---we gave Bush the benefit of the doubt for too long.

"The cops didn't put you in here, you put yourself in here." Believe it or not, but one of the best things you can do for a person you want to see succeed is to tell them when they're wrong. Rush is telling Senator McCain what he needs to do to help him out.

in front of you. You know what it is. You need to step up to the plate and face it.

If you don't, don't bother too much about RS 3.0 (to which I contributed BTW). Because you will be GOING OUT OF BUSINESS. Kos will pick up the RS assets for 15 cents on the dollar. And overpay.
