Democrats On Cornyn: "Better To Look Crooked Than Look Silly"

You can't make stuff like this up people...
The DSCC, among the many other Liberal self-important elitists out there, has their undies all in a bundle because they don't "get" Cowboy humor. Being high and mighty elitists precludes any genuine understanding of the "country" culture, or a decent appreciation for a fine Stetson, or even a shiny pair of bonny-new Tony LLama's for that matter....just ask Obama where that God and Guns remark got him. NOR do they have any ability to comprehend why anyone would poke a little fun at himself; taking one's self too seriously ALL the time is a founding principle for being a Democrat you see...
So, what does the pretty little city boy Democrat Media Consultant named Dean Rindy have to say about the Cornyn "flap" that isn't?
"This is a disaster for John Cornyn, because it just makes him look silly," said Democratic media consultant Dean Rindy. "They don't stop to realize Cornyn's not the Marlboro man. He's a plump, pasty politician in cowboy drag."
[...]
"There's nothing worse than looking foolish. Better to look crooked than to look silly. People want a strong US Senator. Not a fake cowboy," Rindy said.
Rindy wouldn't know a real Cowboy if he took a spit of dip to the forehead from one...and it's no real surprise to hear a Democrat suggest looking crooked is a good thing either...but really now-can the little kiddies on the left lighten up a little?
More below the fold...
Look, Cornyn goes to the Republican Convention in Houston to pump palms and talk to the crowd about the elections this year and what's at stake for us should the lunatics on the left have their way in the voting booths. His introduction at the podium was set up by a video called "Big John" put together by a California media team. It was a little goofy to be sure, but a piece in the Star-Telegram went so far as to call it "corn pone" [without even fully appreciating how GOOD corn pone can be...ever had it with maple syrup? mmm-mmm...that's fine eatin'] but I digress - Cornyn sees it for what it is:
"I think it’s hilarious," he said with a laugh during a conference call with reporters Thursday.
"This was a good-natured introduction we did at the Houston convention a couple of weeks ago."
You lefties need to lighten up.
Making every effort to turn something fun into an election loss, the DSCC is hell-bent on making this Cornyn's Dukakis moment (looking goofy in a tank) but it's not going to stick. See, Cornyn IS a good ole boy from the great state of Texas. We DO wear boots and Stetsons down here, and we DO find ways to laugh at ourselves; taking ourselves too seriously rarely gets us anywhere but kicked, bit, and all beat up out here. You want a Dukakis moment? Check this picture of Obama wearing a Cowboy hat and tell me what's silly and what ain't...
of humor either. God forbid they should actually learn what a healthy thing it is to laugh at themselves every now and then instead of just snarking away at us little people.
Little people, I might add, who have denied them the victories of their chosen candidate in how many POTUS elections at this point? Yes indeed, we know how to laugh at ourselves---but we're also quite capable of pointing and laughing with great glee at the jackasses when they posture and preen. Remember Kerry in the bunny suit? Or windsurfing? Or falling off the mountain when skiing? Or "hunting" for that goose?
I'd much rather see John Cornyn in a Stetson, than Obama and his fake presidential seal.
This is what I continually ponder and have yet to figure out. How can the liberal elite be SOOOO disconnected from real American society?
Those who control energy, control society.
What a completely stupid thing to say. Generally, I think looking foolish is pretty deadly in a campaign, but we should all consider crooked as being far worse. Of course, this was a member of the party of William "Cold Cash" Jefferson saying so.
The ad was a turkey, but it's not hard to understand why the creators thought it was worth filming. Bill Richardson had a couple of western-themed ads in his 2006 re-election campaign that were hilarious in a good way and made his points effectively.
Sen. Cornyn is a good guy and a pretty serious policy guy. He's a valuable asset to the GOP team and one goofy ad doesn't change that. I'll take a guy in an oversized hat with a pretentious narration over a crook anyday!
Western themes have enormous appeal. Cornyn will be laughing all the way to reelection.
I'll give this to the Dems- given Obama & Rezko, Gov Spitzer, Countrywide & Dodd, Rep Jefferson et al - they DO look crooked.

Rindy wouldn't know a real Cowboy if he took a spit of dip to the forehead from one...
Well Dang, I durn near dropped my dip outa ma lower lip on that one.
posted this with a snide comment about how this would have been all we would have gotten with a Fred Thompson candidacy. And he said that like it would have been a bad thing. Some people just have no taste.
Saw the ad on Fox. I thought it was pretty good and hit the spot. Cornyn looked good, too.
Sounded like Sam Elliot doing the voice. I was waiting for:
"Democrat... It's what's for dinner."
Pluto, the Ninth Planet - Forever!
"Democrat... It's what's for dinner."
Great line! But think of the potential for indigestion and food poisoning...
Thanks. I had to go with "dinner," but "eating the Democrats for lunch" was somewhat attractive, too.
Reminds me of the Third Division Hymn

And I eat a Kraut for breakfast every day....

on looking crooked.
is no way for Democrats to win votes in Texas.
Oyster Club. Zap!
Tim Schieferecke
says he is somewhat aware of that. He needs a poncho, and a Parodi clenched in his teeth. On second thought, that would just make it worse. He's no Blondie.
ooeeooeeoooo,
dum, dum, dum...
Haystack, did you catch the wet kiss in Texas Monthly for Cornyn's opponent Rick Noriega? (July, 2008)
EWWW! But not unexpected from that lot of Austin liberals.
Reading it I was reminded (and they reminded me, accidentally) that an "unknown" Cornyn nuked their main man, "popular Dallas Mayor" Ron Kirk. I guess Kirk wasn't so popular nor Cornyn so unknown back then.
Barring a Claytie-style meltdown Cornyn should easily weather whatever the libs throw up on the wall... but expect a lot more as Texas GOP statewide candidates continue to baffle the Dems/liberals/MSM...
Where's the silly?
That's an inspiring video...

with no ominous fear-mongering that Obama can lay the race card on. Being laughed at is probably the one thing Obama hates the most.

cowboys, rednecks, etc....they just won't and because they won't they will not win elections for the WH.
