Iran, History and the Illogical MSM

It is fairly clear the MSM has positioned itself to soft peddle most actions undertaken by Iran. The recent headlining of Congressional warnings to our President about not attacking Iran and the subsequent contra intellectual Sunday morning blathering that followed was a curious exercise. Those latter words are chosen carefully since Iran has increasingly become one of the largest threats to this country and our safety. They operate within the sovereign borders of Iraq with the sole purpose of assisting and undertaking attacks against our armed forces. In addition, Iran as received the somewhat tepid attention of a world community growing increasingly uncomfortable about their veiled attempt to build nuclear weapons. Yet, the focus of attention is our actions, responses and politics; why?
Since the Shah’s fall and a subsequent 444 day hostage crisis, there has not been any sustainable relationship between the United States and Iran. For those who lived through this time, it commenced the rise to detestable prominence of ideologically radical Ayatollah’s and new euphemisms for our country such as the “Great Satan”. It was also the commencement of a larger Middle Eastern radical inculcation pushed by Iranian clerics, enforced by Republican Guards and spread through organized, indirect methods to achieve hegemony.
When looking back at the last 20 years there is a clear and identifiable pattern of Iranian intervention in neighboring Middle Eastern states affairs often with cooperation of other regional actors such as Syria. In fact, one can attribute a substantial amount of the turmoil in Palestine, Lebanon and now Iraq to Iran’s attempt to infiltrate governmental process with radical, parochial ideology. This turmoil is not pursued only as a means to increase Iran’s prominence and sphere of influence with neighboring countries, but also as a means of achieving radical religious goals. Those goals are centered amongst other issuers on a new Caliphate, theological domination of neighboring states and therefore accompanying turmoil to dissuade any democratic or opposing philosophy when it starts to gain support. They succeed in sustaining these detestable actions through the most atrocious methods including state sanctioned murder, bombing innocent civilians and then blaming Israel and the United States in a twisted and seemingly inexplicable manner. Yet a fair degree of the uninformed and generally information challenged populace accepts their specious explanation and therefore succeeds in maintaining conflict. It is a cycle repeated often over many years and in large part responsible for the continuing acrimonious Middle Eastern state of affairs.
A byproduct of this situation is support and safe haven for the radical ideas and philosophy which promotes hatred for the West. It therefore is simplistic to say that ceasing or interrupting this process would help stem a seemingly endless cycle of violence and in turn help make us safer. This is part of what we seek to achieve in Iraq and by keeping more dangerous nuclear weapons out of the hands of Iran. Yet, we are cautioned about our methods and language as Iran continues on a course that expands their actions beyond a parochial threat to one that can threaten with use of nuclear weapons. Notice, Ahmadinejad’s response today to a United Nations sanctions threat ;
That ... we shut down our nuclear fuel cycle program to let talks begin. It's no problem. But justice demands that those who want to hold talks with us shut down their nuclear fuel cycle program too. Then, we can hold dialogue under a fair atmosphere..
And the Associated Press characterization of these remarks;
Ahmadinejad spoke in a far more conciliatory tone than the one he usually adopts, avoiding fiery denunciations of the West with a call for talks.
This apparently all makes perfect sense to the Associated Press either unwilling or unable to intellectually assess the situation as follows; the United Nations declares Iran should stop uranium enrichment by this Wednesday and in turn they declare that the West should completely shut down their nuclear fuel cycle as a “gesture”. The Associated Press characterizes this as “a far more conciliatory tone” and apparently reasonable since it is devoid of the usual call for Israel’s destruction, denial of the holocaust or veiled warning to attack US interests.
What is wrong with the MSM and Democrats warnings to our President about Iran? They fail to understand this summation, history, a rising threat to our nation and a resolution that only to be achieved through firm resolve; not political speech, diplomatic platitudes or inarticulate opining. It is a gap in understanding that must end since it makes us less safe with each passing moment. One can only hope that a some point common sense prevails amongst our populace.
