Hi, I'm Klaatu. I'm from the Global Government, and I'm here to help!

Ah, the lefty pathway is never easy. For all their railing against George W. Bush and the GOP, when it comes to fielding a credible alternative, the Democratic party never fails to disappoint the lefties. They always feel betrayed, disillusioned, robbed – or as the Brits would put it, nicked. Gore would have won, except he was a bad candidate and the GOP stole Florida. Kerry would have won, except he was a bad candidate who allowed himself to be Swift-Boated and the GOP stole Ohio. (Do you sense a pattern of bad candidates here?)

And then 2008 promised to be SO different. The lefties thought they found their perfect dreamboat. He would not only be thoroughly left, but, being black, virtually immune to criticism. And then he is so deliciously multi-culti, with the exotic name and origins and all.

The Global Test always impresses the libs.

Visions of a stealth candidate danced in their heads, an emissary from the Global Great and the Good who would, finally, force proper standards of behavior on a recalcitrant and bellicose America. Kind of like Klaatu in the classic “The Day The Earth Stood Still”. And while the Barack version did not offer a superpowerful robotic sidekick like Gort (libs LOVE alien power!), he did offer an energy plan that would make America grind to a halt. Just like in the movie!

And then the libs were BETRAYED! Obama started behaving like the Chicago Democratic machine pol that he is. He started to count votes! And since the machine can’t quite resurrect the dead nationwide like they do in the Windy City, he had to start catering to living voters. He started moving to the center. He started to use faith-based language. He started to moderate his positions on FISA, Iraq, taxes and all and sundry.

In other worlds, dead voters can be resurrected. In this one, live voters must be convinced.

Now the libs will still vote for Obama, hoping that although an opportunist, he will advance their agenda somewhat. But the thrill of the romance is gone. Never again will they feel that enchanting tingle up the leg, as Obama bobs and weaves and tries to stitch together the Democratic constituencies and get enough independent voters to close the deal in November.

In charity, we have a responsibility as compassionate conservatives to sympathize with the left’s conviction that it has been had. And nicked, too.

If McCain can landslide 50/50. Otherwise, I gave at the office.

With a dash of hope and a sprinkle of change.

"superpowerful robotic by Flagstaff

"superpowerful robotic sidekick"?

Sounds similar?

Coincidence? I THINK NOT!
