Barack Obama, the Ultimate Feminist

By c17wife Posted in Comments (36) / Email this page » / Leave a comment »

For your Saturday morning reading pleasure.

Feminists sharply divided between Clinton, Obama
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080510/ap_on_el_pr/democrats_feminists

My favorite line out of the whole article is this one-

..."This pattern of old-style politics and adherence to un-feminist values is part and parcel of the campaign Hillary Clinton has run," Garfinkel wrote. "In this race, Barack Obama is the true feminist."...
Aw, his mama would be so proud.

Barack Obama, the one that can unite us all. Indeed!

I don't know that McCain can count on this group of disgruntled Hillary voters defecting to his side in large numbers. Many of them are poster children for the moonbat movement. I do see an opening among the white, rural women voters though. And every little bit helps. Especially if McCain can manage to get some airplay of a gracious praising of Hillary and the race she has run. At the end of the day, I think Johnny Mac genuinely does like and admire Hillary for what she brings to the table. I can not say the same for his feeling towards Obama.

Enjoy your day!

on that side. For all our divisiveness, we are paragons of unity compared to these folks! Thanks for posting this one.

A true feminist understands that the ability to bear children is a strength, not a weakness.

A true feminist understands that girls and young women need to be protected, not because they are inferior, but because they are infinitely valuable.

I can't bear to see NARAL and NOW and Clinton and Obama used in the same context as feminism.

It would be the smart pick-female governor of a ruby red state whose already endorsed him really early in the game. It gets him away from having to pick the SheDevil herself as his VP and allows him to shore up the same sort of rural voters he'll need in the midwest to win. Although because this makes the most sense, he probably won't do it-but he's got to know Hillary Clinton would be a punching bag for us on the right.

It annoys the living bejesus out of me that McCain likes and respects Hillary Clinton. Let's not let the campaign rhetoric fool us here, the Clintons can lie with the best of them, in addition to being unethical crooks. For all of her Annie Oakley obliterate Iran rhetoric, her record as a Senator shows the exact opposite. She's running on Slick Willy's platform with a more liberal record. I for one are glad we're going to be rid of the slime and that there won't be another 8 years of the Clintons in the White House, no matter what.

Just a typical, small town, white girl...

Says Bob Novak-
"WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Close-in supporters of Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign are convinced he never will offer the vice presidential nomination to Sen. Hillary Clinton for one overriding reason: Michelle Obama.

The Democratic front-runner's wife did not comment on other rival candidates for the party's nomination, but she has been sniping at Clinton since last summer. According to Obama sources, those public utterances do not reveal the extent of her hostility.

A footnote: Support is growing in Democratic ranks for Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland as vice president. He would bring to the ticket maturity (66 years old), experience (six terms in Congress) and moderation (rated "A" by the National Rifle Association). He is very popular in Ohio, a state Republicans must carry to elect a president."

Sebelius doesn't bring him much and the women are still going to be pissed at him after this week's theatrics. Plus, I don't know if Michelle could handle ANY woman on the ticket.
I say a Wes Clark type military guy or Jim Webb.

Just a typical, small town, white girl...

I thought her red state credentials would probably help him with Reagan Democrats since you don't get much redder than Kansas (thanks RNC by the way-how did we lose the governor's mansion in frickin Kansas-aaaah, but I digress)and she would probably help him sooth the feeligns of angry women. Although I think Jim Webb or Wes Clark are equally likely. Also I thought about a riskier but out of the box solution-Harold Ford Jr. He's rumored to have his eye on governor in 2010, but he's widely perceived as being much more moderate culturally than Obama (he's pro life, anti gay marraige, pro 2nd amendment) and nearly knocked of Corker last year, and well as currently heading the DLC. He'd probably do a lot for Obama-trouble is, he's Black to, and I wonder how many Democrats would vote for two Black guys at the same time.

No, I don't. by c17wife

Obama's "bitter" comment and Jeremiah's ranting have put most Reagan democrats in red states permanently out of reach. Obama will not win one southern state. Not one. And he will solidly lose Florida.
Sebelius probably can't help him much with Hillary's women any more either. They are pretty ticked at him over his treatment of her and his grandstanding this week while she is still in the race has got to be a huge turnoff for most.
While she is a governor, she really doesn't bring much to his ticket. And, his star quality would overshadow her so much that any inroads she might make will be next to impossible because of that.

I stand by my original prediction and add one outlier-
Judas, oops, I mean Bill Richardson.

Just a typical, small town, white girl...

If it's Webb by MikeO

If Senator Webb gets picked for the bottom half of Senator Obama's ticket, then Senator McCain has to go with Oliver North just to treat us to fireworks in the VP debates.

Webb's plenty off his rocker for starters, but he is obsessed with North. If Webb is put across a stage (or a table as in Cheney/Edwards) from North, expect him to leave strapped to a gurney and wearing a straitjacket.

Great diary c17wife. Yes, according to David Brooks and Michael Medved, John McCain likes and respects Hillary Clinton (they both serve on the Senate Armed Services Committee together), but he doesn't like Barack Obama--mainly because Obama grandstanded regarding the immigration bill and tried to take credit for work on the bill that he didn't actually do. Yes, McCain could definitely reach out to women voters--many who think that Hillary got a raw deal, because of the way the men in Democratic party have treated her, male pundits in the media have treated her, and the way Obama, himself has disrespected her in a sexist manner ("claws coming out", "She's throwing the china at me", "Periodically, when she's feeling down", etc). They are also really peeved at the MI and FL debacle and at Obama's victory lap this week, and his campaign's constant calls, since February, for her to drop out. Oh, and Reagan Democrats are really sick of his false cries of "racism" at every turn. And no, Obama's putting Kathleen Sebelius on the ticket would not placate women voters who voted for Hillary--they will feel like Obama is saying that all women are interchangeable. These women voted for Hillary because they like Hillary--not because they wanted some generic female on the ticket. Oh and besides, in case you guys haven't noticed, Sebelius has the personality of vanilla pudding. Did y'all actually see her response to the State of the Union Address? It was embarrassing.

On a side note, I wouldn't recommend calling Hillary a "she-devil" or a "witch" anymore. Remember, you're trying to win over women who support and like her (like me), not further alienate them. I mean, do you want their votes or not? They already feel alienated by the media, the Democratic party, and the Obama campaign. You can either court them by showing Hillary (and by extension, them) some respect--which has been denied them and the Reagan Democrats during this entire election season by the Democratic party and the media--or you can continue to call Hillary a "She-devil" because it makes you feel good. I can tell you that many women who voted for Hillary are furious at the sexist treatment that she has received, and many Reagan Dems are tired of being called "low information voters", "Archie Bunkers", and "racists". According to the exit polls in Indiana and North Carolina, 50% of Hillary's voters said that they would not vote for Obama if he were to become the Democratic nominee. Republicans treatment of Hillary could determine whether or not this valuable block of voters ("Hillocrats" as Pat Buchanan calls them) shows up to vote for John McCain in November, or stays home (or holds their noses and votes for Obama). In a nutshell, the "Hillocrats" will be the new swing voters or "soccer moms" of the 2008 election--piss them off at your peril.

Thanks Susannah. by c17wife

You reinforce my points well.
FWIW, I haven't called Hillary a she-devil, a witch or Hildebeast in quite some time.
Don't get me wrong, I would never vote for her and I still have some real issues with her and Bill, but as this campaign has unfolded, I have come to respect her in some ways.
I think the treatment she has gotten in the media, from some of her fellow democrats and Obama has been ridiculous. They would have never treated a man the way they have treated her over the past 3 months.
As I said above, Johnny Mac can reach out to her and her supporters when she concedes this race. And I think he can pull enough of her voters to his side if he treats her with respect.
As for Obama, the ultimate feminist, my disdain for him grows by the minute. His coronation ceremony earlier this week made me want to puke. I want to see him pummeled this fall. So bad that he never returns to the national scene. What a pompous jackass. And his wife ain't any better.

Just a typical, small town, white girl...

Obama is stunningly full of himself--remember "the snub" at the State of the Union Address and "You're likeable enough, Hillary"? And yes, his wife is insufferable. She went so far as to say that she wouldn't support Hillary if she were the Democratic nominee, she has said that, "for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country" (because they are voting for her husband--how narcissistic), she has said that Americans are "ignorant" and that our "souls are broken" and only Obama can fix them, and she has said that America is "greedy" and "downright mean". For Republicans, she is the gift that keeps on giving. If you have any doubt, read Byron York's latest column.

that's a whole lotta pain right there, worse than Hillary by an order of magnitude.

All of the sudden oh yeah, Hillary Clinton wouldn't be that bad. No everyone, she would be. Remember socialist healthcare-that was Hillary's doing-somehow RedState has gotten sucked into the lie that Hillary Clinton is a conservative Democrat. She's not by any stretch of the imagination-she's a far left liberal who would be 500 times more effective pummeling her far left agenda through the White House. Everyone reported Bill Clinton didn't do a thing without consulting Hillary first. Obama is going to get pummeled by the GOP minority and blue collars. Hillary would get her agenda through or there will be bodies on Penn Avenue. The woman is every bit of a liar and corrupt crook as her husband is. I'll be glad when they take their sorry a**es back to New York where they belong. Here's one GOPer who won't ever NewTone.

Well then you will lose the 2008 election if your fellow Republicans share your attitude and continue trashing her, because you will not win over her voters. Remember, Hillary is getting huge voter turn-out in these primaries--especially in the swing states. I hope the momentary satisfaction of trashing Hillary is worth it for you.

He's going to give us the same NewTone cr*p we've gotten with Bush, under the guise of bi-partisanship. I'm proud to trash liberals in both political parties and I enjoy the streetfighter politician more than anything in politics-hence my Rudy tag. If McCain loses, I won't be losing any sleep at night, since at the moment I have no plans to vote for him anyway.

I could listen to a Hilary speech all day before I could take five minutes of Michelle Obama.

Like Rush said, she reminds men of their shrill ex wives. I can't stand to hear her talk without thinking about how conniving she is to stay with Slick Willie so he can help their return to the White House. I'm so glad America has rejected another 8 years of lies, crooks, and cronyism.

The Unofficial RedState FAQ
“You are not only responsible for what you say, but also for what you do not say. ” - Martin Luther

Yes, Hillary Clinton is a leftist, no question about it. But Barack Obama has proven himself to be even worse. Unfortunately, the man IS a Marxist.

When you get past all his flowery rhetoric and vague promises, Barack Obama is literally expressing a worldvew and the policy positions of a Marxist. In fairness to to both Hillary and Bill Clinton, they ave never done that. Far leftwing, yes; but Marxist, no.

Indeed, even in his earliest disagreements with Jeremiah Wright -- and yes, Barack Obama did express disagreements with Jeremiah Wright early in their relationship -- Obama was actually arguing that Wright was wrong about race and that the issue was really one of class and economic determinism; classic Marxist arguments. Indeed, classic Marxist arguments about race. You can even see some of it in Obama's "(in)famous race speech" in Philadelphia: towards the end Obama starts to go off into this wild Marxist tangent.

Despite Hillary's socialized medicine boondongle, the Clintons have neither said nor done anything as wild as some of the things Obama said and proposed. My opinion of the Clintons has not changed, my opinion of Obama has. The more I know of him, the worse he seems.

It's not that my opinion of the Clintons has improved or my memory of their misdeeds have faded. Far from it. It is simply that as I listen to Obama speak you realize that he is even worse. He literally is a Marxist.

And by the way, I will throw a bone of backhanded praise to the Clintons. If Fred Thompson had fought for the Republican nomination as hard as Hillary Clinton has fought for the Democratic one; Fred would be well on his way to being the 44th President of the United States. Overt ambition does have its place in American politics.

Both are in favor of the Fairness Doctrine being reinstituted-Stalinistic.
Both want to cut and run from the GWOT-Dangerously Chamberlainesque.
Both want to seize profits from our great oil companies-Marxist to the nth degree.
Both want to force "free" healthcare on us. Marxist
Both want to have unrestricted abortion-Dr. Mengele-esqe.
Both are students of Saul Alinski- Marxist/Stalinist.

that war (or at least a display of resolve) was necessary, but he never suggested pulling out after it started.

He was a member of the Clintons inner prayer circle-but they tossed him over the bus when they could use it to play racial politics. And of course there's the famous Bosnia "assassination attempt". Their visions are the exact same as Obama's-they're just better liars then he is. My opinion of the Clintons, unlike everyone else it seems has managed to sink. I'd much rather face Obama then the Clintons. I think it'll be an honest debate and I think McCain's going to beat him soundly in November. The claws of the Clinton [w]itch wouldn't ever stop no matter how nasty she had to get. I'm glad Obama vanquished the most deceitful disgusting family in politics.

Rudy for President End the NewTone. Punch the hippies.

I am not saying that the Clintons are all of a sudden these "goody goody" misunderstood moderates. Far from it; they are lying liberals through and through. What I am saying is that Barack Obama is even worse.

What is interesting is the disagreements that Obama and Wright had early in their relationship. Obama was actually arguing that Wright should take a more Marxist outlook. That itself is very telling. However much Wright was in the Clinton's "inner prayer circle" to my knowledge they never argued that he should take a more Marxist outlook on everything.

And considering the recent history of the Obama campaign, why in the world do you think it would be an "honest debate" between Obama and McCain?

Barack Obama is proving to be almost as big a liar as the Clinton. Give him time and the Presidency and he just may prove to be as big a liar as the Clintons.

Obama's modus operandi is to obfuscate, prevaricate, exaggerate and then outright fib. Then when he is caught in it he screams, "That's just the divisive politics of the past."

Is he a worse liar than the Clintons? No!

But he is a liar and what makes his lies so egregious is that he claims to be so much above it, that he is somehow personally above it all.

Look, I will even admit that as a Black man myself even at this late date I am still somewhat proud of the fact that in this country one of the two major candidates for the highest office in the land is also a Black man. Indeed, a candidate for the highest secular and most powerful position in the world. It's not the first time I have ever been proud of my country, far from it, but it is one of many, many things.

However, after looking at his record and his rhetoric, I also must conclude that as the holder of the highest office of the nation, Barack Obama would be even worse than Hillary Clinton. At least the Clintons know how to "triangulate"; Barack Obama only knows how to be a Marxist.
