The Superbowl Champion Patriots

I’m a bit tired of the Sunday shout shows, so this morning I played hooky. I watched The Football Channel instead.
They were interviewing Bill Belichick. As you know, he’s demanding that the New England Patriots be named Superbowl champions. You probably remember that New England lost the Superbowl, 17 to 14. But Belichick questions whether the score should really determine the winner.
Belichick says the NFL is ignoring the fact that the Patriots held the ball eight full minutes more than the New York Giants. "At the end of the day," said Belichick, "it’s how long you hold the ball that matters."
Belichick also wants the NFL to count the points that New England scored during halftime. "Look," he said. "The Giants had the opportunity to stay on the field during halftime. They chose not to. Our fans cheered as we ran from one end of the field to the other, scoring touchdown after touchdown. Those people’s cheers should matter. The fans have spoken. Every point should count."
Belichick insists that the NFL’s Competition Committee should review the game and determine the winner. "This stuff about field goals and touchdowns is all very well, but the real issue is which team can draw the highest ratings during the regular season," he said. "Everybody knows that the Giants’ fans are eggheads," said Belichick. "If you want the high ratings, you have to pull in the Jets fans. And we’ve shown we can do that."
Asked how long he’s willing to press his case, Belichick answered, "Until there’s a winner. The game ended in February, but we in New England feel that we don’t have a winner until there’s a winner. Once the committee sees the films I have, who knows what might happen."
At first I was like, "WHAT?" and then I died laughing.

I think the only thing that throws a wrench into it is the existence of the SDs. They can have their own criteria for voting and that's what Hillary is trying (and failing) to appeal to.
