After the 2006 snafu of throwing money at Chafee but losing narrowly in VA and MT with more reliable Republicans, the NRSC lost the trust of many donors. To help mitigate those worries, the NRSC has a slate system on their donation page that allows donors to direct their donations to specific candidates. This is an improvement and should help build back some trust.
