Posted at 11:22am on Jul. 2, 2008 Heroes Of Liberty - The Signers Of The Declaration Of Independence
By Ken Taylor
Friday marks the 232nd anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the birth of our great Nation. On that summers day in 1776, fifty six American heroes and patriots pledged, " to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor." The very moment they affixed their signature to this now sacred document each of these American heroes became fugitives from the British Crown.

By Jaded
I am sure a lot of fellow Redstaters participated in the From the Frontlines tele-thon last night. I did not see anyone post on it and felt I must. This event for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan was a BLOWOUT!!!! The initial desire was for 500K it broke 1 million dollars.
http://michellemalkin.com/2008/06/26/an-internet-first-from-the-frontlin...
There were over 3000 people on UStream at one time and there were 29 trackbacks to the event....think about that...29 blog sites tracking back and participating in helping our troops.

Posted at 6:13pm on Jun. 27, 2008 Shameless plug for the Reagan Library on the 4th
By Dave in Fla
If you live in the Southern California area and are looking for something fun to do on the 4th, I heartily recommend a drive out to Simi Valley to visit the Reagan Library. While I live in Florida, I work most weeks in Los Angeles, and my wife and I have spent the 4th in LA for the last two years. Both years we have headed up to the library during the day, then settled in for watching fireworks from our hotel.

Posted at 1:35pm on Jun. 1, 2008 ...And the Attack on Democracy Begins for SEIU!
By Warner Todd Huston
So, the convention has barely started and we already have the goons at the top of the SEIU trying to shut down the voice of its own members. The UHW folks are one of the alternative voices of the Services Employee International Union and they have been trying to encourage the union to reject the top-down style of leadership -- more like dictatorship -- of SEIU president Andy Stern.
So, the UHW folks made a nice little flier to hand out to their fellow members at the convention in San Juan so that their ideas might be heard and considered. And what do they end up faced with almost immediately? An attack on them by the commisar's office, Androvich Von Stern. (All hail our leader!)

Posted at 1:33pm on Jun. 1, 2008 SEIU Convention Begins
By Warner Todd Huston

We've focused on the SEIU quite a bit here on the blog and for good reason. The SEIU poses the biggest threat in the country to the free workplace. But, the Services Employee Union isn't just a union for services employees... at least not in the vision of SEIU president Andy Stern. He intends the SEIU to be a "global union."

By goldwaterinstitute
The Goldwater Institute
presents
Who's Writing Now?
featuring
Barry Goldwater, Jr. and John Dean
authors of
Pure Goldwater
What is Pure Goldwater?
It's the Senator's authentic and newly discovered writings, unfiltered by speechwriters, that provide new views of Barry Goldwater and his role in an important era of American political history.
Pure Goldwater offers insight into a man who helped navigate one of the most tumultous periods in American history, from Ike to Nixon to the Reagan era. In today's turbulent times, voters and readers would do well to reflect upon the Goldwater legacy for high political standards.

Posted at 7:34pm on May 26, 2008 Last Living WWI Veteran and a different kind of Memorial Day
By RioGrandeRightWing
I've recently relocated to my friend's house for the sumer in Olathe, KS.
Kansas City is a new place for me, and so are the people. My friend's father, Dean of faculty at Nazarene Theological Seminary, has been introducing me to his colleagues from the Seminary. There are all anti-GOP and staunch "progressives."
Being the son of a Nazarene pastor myself, it was interesting to hear the difference in their political views and mine. And then a large group of them (and myself) attended the Kansas City Memorial Day Celebration last night. It was outside Union Station with a live performance by the Kansas City Symphony.

By RollingThunder
I had a hard time this year figuring out what I wanted to say and place in my Memorial Day post for this year. I've already discussed Memorial Day's history. So, that's off the list. Then Michelle Malkin gave me an idea via her blog.

Posted at 4:20pm on Apr. 28, 2008 Wright Was Right, Then Wrong Again
By Chris Jones
We are currently enjoying day number two of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright media blitz, and it gets a little worse at every stop.
I watched Rev. Wright on Bill Moyers the other night and was
impressed. Keeping in mind that Bill Moyers is a dishonest hack who's
just trying to get Obama elected, I still thought Rev. Wright showed an
impressive intellect and made some very good points.

Posted at 4:37pm on Apr. 16, 2008 Will Pope Serve Eucharist to Baby Killer Politicians?
By jgrantswankjr
J. Grant Swank, Jr.
When Pope Benedict XVI officiates at Mass in Washington DC there will be plenty of politicians there who cheer on daily killing unborn infants.
These mortals are forbidden to take the elements representing the body and blood of Jesus Christ.
They do so all the time. Yet they know it is a grave sin. Yet they do so for they are callous of soul. They are part of the spiritual rebellion tearing Christendom apart. In short, they are agents of the devil.

Posted at 12:59pm on Apr. 16, 2008 Benedict's Benediction! - Image & Quote for the Day
By streetwise
"God bless America," said Benedict robustly, to cheers from the excited throng.

Now this is knowing how to work a crowd with a positive message! Some clerics, especially those who minister to prominent politicians, should take note.
I am by no means in agreement with all of Pope Benedict XVI's concepts. But hats off to His Holiness for showing what a joy the message of reconciliation can be! This is the papacy at its best.

Posted at 12:35pm on Apr. 16, 2008 The Pope visits the US
By Matthew
I heard the Pope speak this morning. His pro-American words were nice to hear but what stuck out for me was how he ended it by saying:
"a joy to be in your midst" and "God bless America."
It was a nice contrast to the pastor of that political candidate who has a middle name we aren't suppose to speak.
