Jay Carney: Redemption

I dinged Jay Carney on the front page the other day, so I will put this on the front page too.
I've been a big fan of his work since 2000 when he was on the campaign trail, so it was really aggravating to see him on TV knocking right wing bloggers for stirring up the "Whitey" rumor when it was actually Larry Johnson of the Hillary Clinton Fan Club doing the rumor-mongering.
Jay set the record straight today and I appreciate him doing so. It's another reason I appreciate his writing and analysis on politics.
As one of his commenters says, Jay is no longer an ignorant slut, but a wise virgin. Heh.

"while the rumor was picked up and spread by conservative bloggers, pundits, operatives and talk show hosts, they were not the first to inject it in into the Internet bloodstream."
The rumored existence of a tape became "news". Dan Rather would be very proud.

...to admit when he's made a boo-boo. Hats off to Jay Carney for setting the record straight, especially while reporting for a hyper-partisan rag like Time that's clearly in the tank for Obama.
Now, if we could get ABC, the rest of Time, the Guardian, the Associated Press and the NYT to admit their journalistic "error" (or inherent Obama bias), perhaps we could put this stupid Whitey rumor to bed.
