If you're going to go after Big Oil for gas-price gouging, shouldn't you, like, know the price of gas yourself?

Or is that simply too much to ask in the face of confronting (KnownFact) Pure Eeeeeeeeeevil?

Kay Barnes says she wants to represent Missouri's 6th Congressional District, "not Exxon," in the United States Congress.

She even has on her web site a diatribe against her incumbent opponent, Republican Congressman Sam Graves, in which she accuses him of "ignor[ing] rising gas prices over the past seven years," while "vot[ing] time and time again to give billions in tax credits and giveaways to Big Oil."

Ms. Barnes sounds very, very concerned about the price Americans and 6th District Missourians are paying at the gas pump.

The problem? As you can see in the video below, she has no idea what that price is.

Perhaps Kay Barnes should learn what the actual price of gas in her district is before railing against those nefarious Big Oil companies who are supposedly gouging her would-be constituents.

Just a suggestion.

Be a complete idiot.

Get elected anyway.

[Yes, I realize that this model has been around far longer than SanFran Nan.]

Kay as mayor,

And the first thing she wants to do is join her old buddy Emanuel Cleaver in DC to spend more of my tax money.

The city is now “discovering” a massive deficit and is cutting, cutting, cutting. No one will remember it’s Kay’s fault when the election rolls around though.

I get at least 3 calls a week from a 527 slamming Rep. Graves over his record of voting like a Republican. The group is called something like “Caring about Families” or some other bilge. They don’t even have the gonads to let caller ID show who they are.

If Kay gets in, we lose.

What is everyone’s problem? The price of gas for the (ex)-mayor is ZERO. Someone else pays for it.

Why should she be bothered with trivial details like the actual price the little people pay for gas? Numbers are something little people worry about. Besides, if you have to ask how much it costs either you cannot afford it, and should therefore vote for her, or you are not important enough to have someone else pay for it, and should therefore vote for her.

By the way, this numbers thing is why the city’s deficit is not her fault either. That too is a little person thing. She did not know there was a deficit looming when she left office because she really could not be bothered to look at silly things like numbers. She sticks to KnownFacts. These are much more important than data or objective reality. To paraphrase the exalted (ex)-mayor of KC, you nitpicking Republicans should get a life!

I initially posted the previous comment on the beta site. I very much like the new look and feel. In fact, I got carried away and forgot that everything I put there will get flushed down the toilet as if it was nothing more than a bunch of facts that somehow got past security at a Democratic Convention.

For those of you who watch for such things, yes, this is my first Kowalski. I am proud to join such a fine tradition. Yet, I must acknowledge the content of my Kowalski cannot live up to Kowalski's legacy.

For two personal body guards like she made KC pay.

I know folks from city hall who have some wonderful stories about Kay.

My favorite though is how after new Mayor Funkhouser (yep, Funkhouser) took office, she was still showing up in the office to try to show him the ropes. She came in the first day and said, "I have your car downstairs for you." His Honor said, "What car?" She said, "The new car the city has leased for your personal use."

Mark Funkhouser drives an old car that some of us wouldn't drive to work and never took the lease.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Missouri, don't elect Emanuel Cleaver junior. Stop the nasty trend of sending our lousy former Kansas City Mayors to national office NOW!
