How many were for fred and now how many

Good news
This is the springboard we need to nail SC!
that he wants to just be there to poke holes in other people and doesn't really want the job itself.
I wonder if that might not just be true?
Patently (sic?) rediculous! Why would someone run, asking supporters to fork over precious dollars, when they didn't really want the job.

For sure Fred! won - but I think McCain gets the benefit because he's the front runner and he got through without taking a real hit.
Maybe it's just because I follow politics a bit more than your average American, but McCain BLEW on immigration - a major SC issue

McCain was able to run out the clock in that issue. He was able to minimize the damage that he would have faced if it had come up earlier. No useful sound bites for anyone to use against him there.
80% of the Room was for Fred after. Awesome!

I agree with the group, but how much does that help? Same thing happened with Romney just before NH.
Freedom and religion endure together, or perish alone. --Mitt Romney
Fred because he actually showed some passion, humor and seemed to have more life than normal and Huck because he got the most face time, didn't stumble and deflected the attacks on him very well.
was not a good thing for him tonight. Fred shredded him. Huck's answers on raising taxes, improving roads and education, etc. all sounded exactly like the reasons liberals give for dumping money into problems - this is the wrong approach. Cut taxes, create competition in education through vouchers, promote businesses, etc - then peoples lives will truly improve as opportunities are created without the razor thin base of a government program.
"I guess the lesson learned here is that it doesn't matter where everyone is from as long as we're all the same religion." - Peter Griffin (Family Guy)
This was just Freds opening salvo against Huck. Huck can expect to be on the defensive for the rest of the campaign. Fred did not go after Mitt hard because if McCain beats him in Michigan some of Mitts supporters may go his way. They wont be going to Mike or John in big numbers that is for sure.
is calling it for FRED!
Might this be the tipping point?
Pray, boys!
Go Fred, go!
But the focus group just said RP was the loser, way to use the sleight of hand there RP. Taking the heat off the real losers here, McCain
that's when we can judge their voting intillect
as the loser is a plus for the Huckster. It takes the attention to the beating he took away.

in anyone's mind? My guess is: the impact on the polls will be miniscule. Probably 1 in 100 people in SC saw it... (just my own cynical view...)

will hear about who won and what was said. This will also be used on the trail for the next few weeks.

That's a bummer of a point of view bs.

But I gotta admit that Greiner had a good point. And Fred's fundraising bump is obvious evidence that I was incorrect.

but will independents vote for him?

If he can turn out enough Conservatives in the General, he won't need the Indies.
Specially if he goes up against the lackluster Clinton...
"Guns don't kill people...
"...But they sure help!"
-Paul Giamatti, Shoot 'Em Up
Nothing will amp up conservatives like voting against that crying puddy-face b*atch, especially for Fred. However, too many idependents seem to be siding with Obama. But what do I know, I live in the most liberal city in the US (DC).
This is it, finally a true Conservative Republican state.
Finally Fred is in his element. This is our historically our GOP bellweather state.
He knocked the ball out of the park tonight. It really wasn't even close.
McCain looks like he tooks his meds tonight.
Huck got some good lines in, but the charm is only going to carry him so far.
Fred won on both substance and passion tonight.
Finally!
Fred shows us what we all knew he was capable of doing. I hope it's not too late.
But he then kisses up to McCain? LOL.
I must say, Fred Thompson sure was impressive tonight.
convince the general electorate to vote for him.
I want him to pick off McCain and join with Mitt.
First off, Fred hasn't lost his neighboring state or dumped tens of millions into another one for a second place finish to Huck (who spent $1 for every $10 Mitt spent).
So you got it in reverse. Mitt should be the one to drop out if he loses his homestate of Michigan, and then Mitt should endorse Fred in South Carolina.
Besides, Fred is friends with McCain. If Fred does endorse anyone else, it's gonna be McCain.
Even after that debate you can't see that he wants it. Open your eyes. Early on it was different, but now we are seeing a real drive. He is doing a lot of ground work in his bus, and He has just had trouble getting into the media, after last night he will be in the media.
"The object of war is not to die for your country, but to make the other bastard die for his."
-General George S. Patton
I don't think there was a 2nd or 3rd, everyone else lost decisively tonight, especially Romney.
After Fred, Mitt needed to have his best performance tonight and he clearly didn't. That's why I think he's the debates biggest loser (I don't even consider RP).
He brings a lot to the Debate in the area of ideas and issues.
Didn't you see the note from Erick about Hunter? Erick got more votes in his recent local election than Hunter has gotten combined in 2 states in a presidential race.
If he doesn't have the sense enough to go on his own, do we really need to continue humoring him that he's actually running for president?
their endorsement of Romney in light of his current implosion in New Hampshire and Iowa.
They need to get behind the TRUE Conservative in this race:
FRED!
Fred won, as everyone else has already said. I actually started clapping when he went after Huckubust that first time. Finally!
Huck did OK too but not on substance, not on the issues: He made some funnies, did well on the religion question (which shouldn't matter but gave him a chance to knock it out of the ballpark), etc. Unfortunately for Fred & Mitt, I think 98% of Huckabee's supporters will flock to the polls on his behalf simply b/c he said the word "Lord." Give me a break. He was bad on immigration, bad on taxes--those are the things that should matter.
Romney had pretty solid answers but was kind of in the background most of the night. I don't think he hurt himself, but I don't think he really helped himself, either.
McCain looked bad in the "change" exchange when he once again tried to bring the discussion back to the war. That's clearly not what the moderator had meant ...
I talked to a local mayor earlier who wants to do a campaign stop for Fred next week.I have seen a change in peoples minds about Huckabee in the last week.I was also reminded today of an issue at a local gunshop I had forgotten about, McCain cosponsered the assault weapon ban. This will play into Freds hands. He also has a big endorcement comming tommorow.
Honestly, I don't think I've heard this in a long time. The dems are no longer the party of the common man. They're the party of "The Man". Rich, white, elitist, Hollywood, racist= all dems.
Who ARE these people? Are they Democrats? The guy loses in every major scientific poll.

I would assume it's dems being idiots as they always are, and conservatives just being funny.
When the debate came to the issue of Education, Huckabee talked about improving Arkansas to #8 in the nation. He then mentioned that it was "a lot better than 49th." If I'm not mistaken, that's where South Carolina is ranked. Um. Ouch?
Can I get confirmation from an SC local? I'm in Georgia. :>

I think Fred really got to him! It looks like he wants to flip flop on he's no negitive campaign promise!
I stand corrected -- Huckabee did not misquote the Bible last night -- he did not actually quote Ephesians -- he just referenced the entire book and paraphrased the ultimate meaning. It must have been another poster that added the verse 11.
It was a very marriage counseling type answer.
But if Huckabee want's to use Christianity at every turn -- he cannot get upset when he is asked religion questions.
Absolutely correct. He handled the question well and it was a perfectly reasonable question.

Huckabee is still a liberal democrat in a pro-life suit -- and this conservative cannot support him -- especially given there are several other pro-life candidates running -- including FRED THOMPSON who is endorsed by RTL.
... as you can see from my sig.

Everybodys getting a turn. Maybe Mitt can come in third.
