Scalp Collecting

Why yes, we did collect another one today.
The firebrand pastor of St. Sabina parish was removed from his duties there Tuesday, according to a statement released by the Archdiocese of Chicago. In the statement, Cardinal Francis George says he asked the Rev. Michael Pfleger, 59, to "take leave for a couple of weeks from his pastoral duties." The statement said Pfleger "does not believe this to be the right step at this time." "While respecting his disagreement, I have nevertheless asked him to use this opportunity to reflect on his recent statements and actions in the light of the Church's regulations for all Catholic priests," George said.
I tell ya, Obama caves every time we glare at him and all these guys keep getting thrown under the bus.

He did make a huge mistake in this case and Cardinal George is absolutely correct in taking the action he took. Fr Pfleger has, I believe, also been much too cozy with Farakhan at times because like other Chicago leaders, they too often ignore the vile rantings of the man and only look at the real positive impact that the NOI has on the black community. In my opinion, the bad far outweighs the good but that's the reality here in Chicago. If you look at Father Pfleger's history, he has been an incredibly positive force in the black community in general and at St Sabina parish in particularly. He does tend towards the dramatic sometimes (protesting "head shops and liquor stores) but he is, on the whole, a good guy.

Take his comments and substitute "African American" for "White" and see what the MSM's reaction would be. Additionally, his message of hate and revenge corrodes the souls of who listen.
The Trent Lott rule applies - we must take a microscope and analyze every word he has spoken over the next six months.
NoBama and his crew have already set race relations back a decade, no telling how much carnage they will cause by November.

He needs to pay the price. But just like Senator Lott, an honest evaluation of the man must include more than one incident
owner might rise to the occasion of an honest evaluation? hmmm?

"Pfleger then turns his attention to Riggio. "He's the owner of Chuck's. John Riggio. R-i-g-g-i-o. We're going to find you and snuff you out … you know you're going to hide like a rat. You're going to hide but like a rat we're going to catch you and pull you out. We are not going to allow you to continue to hide when we're here …"
Nice guy you are attempting to defend there...
lets be clear the ends do not justify the means....it really matters not whether he has done "good" deeds because his heart is really just evil.
Freedom of Religion NOT Freedom from Religion
"I want the NRA [National Rifle Association] to understand - you have a lot of money, but money can't buy moral authority and it can't buy justice or freedom, and we will fight you, NRA," he says.--Pfleger
Moral authority coming from a racist bigot. Just WOW.

to have people reflect on their lives, and to focus inward.
If he wants to run for office and be a politician, he should do that.
If he wants to be a community activist, he can be that but he needs to be a priest first, and a community activist second.
I heard more politics in the youtube clips of Wright and Pfleger than I have in the pews of churches my ENTIRE LIFE.
And I don't say that with even a hint of sarcasm. I don't think religious leaders should be endorsing or criticizing political leaders or parties from the pulpit. If they want to raise a moral point about a particular issue (racism, abortion, crime, etc) I am ok with that. But telling people who they should or should not vote for is out of bounds in my opinion.
"on the whole a good guy." What a religiously and philosophically loaded assessment that is.
Being a good neighborhood watch participant shouldn't be enough to warrant one's own parish.
Pfleger's actions depict a vile, twisted, left-wing kook. Calling him a goof is like calling Farrakhan testy ... or Wright an old uncle.
Sorry, no sale. He's on the record. Lying afterward and blaming it on youtubery makes it even worse.
It's all very lovely that Pfleger and Wright (and Hugo Chavez) spend a few nickels in community efforts, but this isn't a good deeds trading game. "Yes I pal around with those who advocate jihad against my government, but see here, I've volunteered at the soup kitchen seven times!"
I don't need to know how many homeless blankets he gave out to know that "sermon" wasn't right, although it was quite Wright. I'm sure he'd make a great activist, but as a religious leader he's critically flawed.
He seems to be wrapped up tighter than tight in the Marxist/Psuedo Catholic Liberation Theology that originated in South America. This is not Catholicism, it is the beast wrapping itself in a great religion to gain power over careless, ignorant people. I hope the Vatican gets involved with this and pressures the Diocese to remove him from the priesthood.

Since when do religious "leaders" make these political rants from the pulpit anyway? I have attended many churches of many affiliations in many parts of the country and have NEVER heard any political talk, ever. Was there even an attempt to wrap this rant into some Biblical reference?
How dumb can Pfleger be if he really supports Obama to pull this stunt when Obama was already in trouble from Wright. Was this a Vast Clintonian Conspiracy?
Ask not what I can do for my country, ask what my country can do for me. Washington Elected Elite
Some years back a member of my Sunday School class ran on the Demoncrat ticket for sheriff of our county.
Six weeks before the election he disappeared. The next week after the election, when questioned, he explained his "handlers" had been taking him from black church to black church to campaign from the pulpit.
In this part of the deep south, I fear there are more "social activists"
organizations than Bible thumping black churches. ((In fairness, there is also an excess of lukewarm predominately white churches, but I have not observed them politicking from the pulpit. I have seen them threatened by the IRS when they dare mention candidates from the pulpit (tax exempt status threat), where Reverend Sharpton and others don't seem to suffer that fate.))
I must honestly say the best church services I have ever attended were in churches who cared not whether you were purple or green, just that you were "about your fathers business."
Now, off the soapbox...
Regards
Like Wright, Farrakan, & Sharpton, I'd bet the more known about this guy's views & rants the worse the entire body of "work" would become.
In 1988 I visited a church where the pastor said that America needed to elect Pat Robertson. That was my only visit. In truth, I can't see how anyone with any Christian tendancies could vote for a leftist Democrat; however, I expect my church to steer clear of political endorsements of or attacks on specific candidates.
There is a disparity when it comes to "politicking from the pulpit" between "black" & "white" churches, & this is becoming evident to more & more of us "average" folks.

the Rev. Pfleger's rhetoric scandalizes all Catholics except the most left-lunatic fringe.
