Michigan moms and dads, are you ready for Tuesday?  Well, are you?  Or maybe more importantly, is your eight year old ready?  This coming Tuesday Michigan's fancy new booster seat regulation goes into effect and Junior had better be buckled up in a shiny new piece of vinyl or the Michigan State Police will hunt you down.  "Even at night."  Click it or ticket, kid.  You don't want to cost mom and dad $65 bucks, do you?

Hey, hey, Hockeytown!  Welcome back to the real world after what was hopefully a really nice three-day weekend.  Welcome back to the real world to most of us anyways.  Not sure most of the folks in Lansing remember what the real world's like these days but that's inconsequential anyways... they're not going to be "back" for long.

By saul anuzis

180 Days until Election Day

MORNING UPDATE:

McCAIN DOES MICHIGAN…in a whirlwind fundraising, political, and ‘town hall’ style meetings across Michigan, John McCain reminded America why he’s tested and ready to be our next Commander-in- Chief.

McCAIN TALKS JUDGES…in what is now considered a key speech to the “center-right” coalition in America, John McCain promised to appoint constructionist, conservative, main-stream judges to the court…not liberal activists.

MORNING UPDATE:

CLINTON WINS INDIANA…OBAMA WINS NORTH CAROLINA…the race is on and the Democrats don’t have a nominee. It looks like they are heading towards their convention in Denver. We’ll be ready for either or…a clear choice…McCain v some liberal, out of touch, big spending, higher taxing, cut and run Democrat!

McCAIN PROMISED CONSERVATIVE JUDGES…addressing the center-right coalition in America, John McCain committed to appoint mainstream conservative judges.

"I can't compete with China. I personally can't compete with Mexico."

That was the word, according to the Associated Press, from Steve Conner, an American Axle employee for the past fourteen years.  And that just about says everything you need to know about Big Labor's talking points and their hold over many rank and file members striking the struggling auto-parts supplier.

Posted at 8:23am on Apr. 16, 2008 I take back all my criticism -- this is obviously money well spent

I guess we can consider this a day-after-tax-day surprise from Jennifer Granholm, John Cherry and the Michigan legislature.  As if it wasn't bad enough that folks had to write bigger checks yesterday to cover that massive tax hike they passed along to us last fall we get to see exactly how some of that money's being spent today.

Posted at 10:47am on Apr. 8, 2008 Broken Promises: Michigan Dem Speaker refuses to turn over documents to media

By RightMichigan.com

Tax day is literally now, right around the corner.  Like the TV commercials say, it's one stress-packed trip to the post office this April 15th and this year it's more stressful than ever.

All thanks to your friendly neighborhood Democrat State Representatives.  Particularly those of you out in the Redford area.  Small business owners in Michigan's 17th State House District owe a special debt (pun intended) of gratitude to Speaker Andy Dillon, the man, the myth, the tax hiking legend.

Posted at 6:48am on Mar. 24, 2008 MI MORNING UPDATE: Dems predict budget shortfall again, Hoogendyk petitions for ballot, Tax reforms anyone can do

By saul anuzis

226 Days until Election Day

MORNING UPDATE:

I have received many inquiries about how to add Michigan to California, Arizona and Nevada, which all have enacted constitutional amendments requiring a two-thirds vote of both houses of the legislature to raise taxes. This requires a petition drive and ballot initiative. This may be the only way, that will stop what has happened to us from happening again. The Democrats are swirling around “ways” to solve the “next” shortfall…unbelievable.

Posted at 7:35am on Mar. 20, 2008 Granholm promises bill will create 400,000 jobs... and, there goes that last shred of credibility

Was last night painful or what?  There are some things that just never get easier to listen to.  The platitudes, the promises, the reassurances... you hear them every single time in these sorts of situations.  But none of them ever change the bottom line.  There are greener pastures elsewhere.  In fact, everywhere else.  The only difference between last night and every other time we've heard that particular type of speech is that the Governor actually addressed reality, too.  For a minute anyways.  Right before she slipped off the edge head first into sheer, unadulterated lunacy.

Posted at 9:44am on Feb. 27, 2008 Granholm and House Dems pushing hard for new $8 billion hidden tax hike

By RightMichigan.com

If Michigan is in a backwater and you've been captaining the ship for the last six years what does that say about your ability at the helm?  I'm just asking.

Jennifer Granholm returned from Washington D.C. and decided it was time to get serious, for the first time since she was elected in 2002, about encouraging alternative energy production in Michigan.  Apparently she's abandoned the carrot and stick method and gone exclusively to the stick.  Criticize the State you're leading and then slap residents struggling to make ends meet under the yolk of your last $2.4 billion tax hike with a brand new record shattering $8 billion tax increase.  That ought to clear up whatever ails us.

We've seen reports in recent days identifying the Democrat party as the "party of the rich."  Turns out they're the new party of "big business" too?  The Ivory Tower reports this morning that an analysis of campaign finance reports reveals that while overall giving is down in many sectors this Presidential cycle the Democrats seem to be gaining ground in former GOP cash strongholds too while maintaining their hammer lock on givers like the unions and the biggest of them all, the trial lawyers.

Posted at 8:08am on Nov. 13, 2007 MI Dem Speaker kills Presidential primary, disenfranchising millions

By RightMichigan.com

So much for holding a joint primary on January 15th.  While the Democrats in the Senate blocked a new bill re-establishing the primary by refusing to grant the measure immediate effect the House Democrats discovered a new and much more creative way to disenfranchise millions of Michigan voters.
