Those out there advocating a brand-spanking new gas tax hike, whether it's today, tomorrow or during the lame duck legislative session after the November general election should consider themselves officially on notice this morning that their actions have consequences as news outlets report some awfully serious automotive related news that's been and will be directly affected by the price at the pump. The stories are a part of a news cycle chock full of stories about cars, car makers, the people who drive them and the people who pick on the people who drive on them.

This one they may want back. Too late, though. The article's out there in black and white. This morning the Detroit Free Press, fondly referred to as the Ivory Tower here at Right Michigan, set a new standard for liberal crazy talk. It's one thing to support leftist policies or to bang the Democrat drum and then there's this... which is something else entirely.

How much do Michigan Democrats care about Michigan these days? That's a good question. And one to which I really don't know the answer. But I do know that on a scale of one to ten they're somewhere around a negative thirteen. We've got this whole Presidential Primary debacle in which the leading candidates for the Democrat's nomination have sworn off even stepping foot in Michigan. A huge two fisted, two fingered salute.

The Grinch is back at it trying to steal Christmas from the domestic auto industry again. The same day that Congress officially signs off on a massive new set of rules and regulations expected to push Michigan's largest job suppliers to the brink of bankruptcy we get word from one auto company in particular that they're ready to kill 5,200 jobs in the next year. Which sort of makes the Governor's little happy dance over a recent promise of 500 new jobs over 5 years seem that much more silly. What with her promising tens of millions in tax breaks just to buy that much good news and all.

"I'm cautiously optimistic." That's the word from State GOP Chairman Saul Anuzis in today's Detroit News, discussing with the fish-wrap the possibility (or is it probablility) that Michigan will play host to a second nationally televised GOP Presidential Debate.

340 Days until Election Day
MORNING UPDATE:
Sales tax on services is repealed….surcharge on the MBT replaces revenues. The Democrats left us with the best of two bad choices. Hopefully some in the business community have learned some lessons.
Senate and House Republicans stood together to get the best they could…see release below.
How about a bipartisan approach to dealing with the issues that affect our state? See more below.
